Much better than earplugs January 5, 2009 The amount of sound these things block without the aid of electronics is remarkable, and while they may look goofy, I greatly prefer them to those fiddly little foam earplugs that invariably get lost and exacerbate wax build up. They're definitely snug, but if they weren't they wouldn't work. I've seen dudes with much bigger heads than mine wear them all day long without a problem, so I think all but the most sensitive folks should be able to adapt. Even if you can't, your hearing is probably worth an occasional headache.
Great product at a great price.
Get these and wear them January 4, 2009 I've had these for 10 years. They're very comfortable and have held up well. They adjust nicely to any head size. They make any environment pleasantly peaceful.
It's absolutely worth wearing these with loud power tools and hammering. You're going to be old someday. Why add bad hearing to the mix?
Get these and wear them.
Comfortable, silent, and a great price January 4, 2009 I quickly graduated from the cheap plastic headband version to a pair similar to these for gun enthusiasts that I found at the local sporting goods store. The current sale price of $16 is less than half what I paid for that pair and as good or better quality. These are comfortable against the ears, lightweight, and really cut the noise level down. I use them in my woodshop and while doing metalworking and have taken to using them while mowing the lawn, running the weedeater, or any other loud powertool.
These work very well December 29, 2008 These work well, seem fairly comfortable, and the price is reasonable. I got these because my planer is uncomfortably loud and I found that my hearing took several hours to recover after planing.... I'm afraid of permanent damage so I got these. They really make a huge difference. However, despite the words in the decription, these are NOT active noise cancelling type hearing protectors. They are just passive earmuffs. Nothing wrong with that... I have Bose active true noise cancelling earphones at work -- these Peltors cost 1/10th as much and do more or less the same job as far as I am concerned. If you are around loud tools, I highly recommend ear protection. So far, these seem to do the trick for me.
Great Noise Reduction and Headache Builder December 26, 2008 These work great to reduce noise of all types. I had to return mine because they gave me a headache due to the pressure they place on your head to get a tight seal. Another consideration I did not think about, is the conflicts with other PPE such as a full face shield or safety glasses. I am going to stick with ear plugs.
