We love being able to get to work with tools right out of the box, so combo kits are high on our list. This one's got not one but two nailers and a great little compressor. First, the nailers: The 16-gauge top-load finish nailer is so light and compact, it's just a joy to handle. It didn't jam on us, but if it did, clearing it would have taken only a couple seconds because of the quick-release nose door. Depth control adjusts easily, and the tip doesn't mar the workpiece. We really like the full-length window that lets you see how many nails you've got left. When it fires, it's got virtually no recoil, and combined with the comfortable rubber grip, it's easy on the user. Because of nose design, it can slip into places other nailers can't go. The 18-gauge side-load brad nailer also has the view window, and it's super easy to load. As with the finish nailer, jams are cleared quickly and easily, firing depth is simple to adjust, it's comfortable in hand and it's extremely light but powerful. Again, it has a no-mar tip. The heart of this combo is a high-performance, oil-free compressor, built tough for the job site. At six gallons, it's not huge, but for nailers, this is plenty. Air delivery is a respectable 3.4 cfm at 40 psi and 2.7 cfm at 90 psi. This is a great combo for the carpenter and contractor, and you can't beat the price. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

2 out of 5 stars Buy carefully   July 17, 2007
Everything arrived intact, but when I plugged in the compressor, it "hummed" and wouldn't run at all. I finally got it to work somewhat, but then it would freeze up at about 20 psi. Also, the drain plug doesn't work at all, it just lets air run out and you can't tighten it. Seems like a good deal, but be prepared for problems with this kit. I'm sure the guns work well, but who knows when I'll be able to actually try them, I'm calling Bostitch.

5 out of 5 stars Great Nailer Combo Pack   May 29, 2006

This is my first purchase and use of a nail gun. After looking at renting one ($75/day), and then purchasing an electric one that simply was not powerful enough to install baseboard molding, I started looking at Lowe's and Home Depot and asking some questions. As it turns out, purchasing a nail gun alone will run about $150 or so. Then, you need the compressor to run it. So, the combo packs at any of these places essentially gives you one or two nail guns for free. This Bostich pack retails for about $300 at Lowe's. My purchase through Amazon went flawlessly, except for a backorder status which shipped three weeks before it originally stated that it would come. It worked right out of the box, and it has performed flawlessly. I have saved a lot of time and the results look great-only a tiny hole that needs to be puttied. Look around for a good price-expect to pay around $250-300 for a decent combo pack. The compressor is a step above the entry level compressors and it can be used for other air tools besides the nail guns. The two guns included with this pack are a good compromise-one for driving brads in thin molding and the other for finish nailing. You can get guns to drive both smaller and larger nails, but this should suit most DIY needs.

2 out of 5 stars Compressor Motor Frozen, Fan Blade Broken   May 25, 2006

Out of the box, the "connection kit" was loose. I plugged in the compressor and it just 'hummmed'. The Bostitch Help Desk was not very helpful. I brought the compressor to a recommended warranty service center. The'kit' needed to be tightened and the 'humming' motor was 'frozen' with a broken fan blade. The nailers are probably okay, but I couldn't try them.

5 out of 5 stars I like the product!   January 18, 2006

As a first owner of a an air gun and compressor, i am completely satisfied w/the product. I had it operating 15 minutes out of the box. As w/any product, there are parts missing, and mine was missing a rubber foot. Big deal!!

I purchased it at a local retailer of Home Improvements and the box had its origional staples keeping it together. No problems inside w/the hardware. I like it and recommend it to anyone who is a home owner. I have installed ne doors w/frames and it works great.

3 out of 5 stars Great for the price   October 25, 2005

I had the same problem as many on this board. The handle broke right out of the box. Cheap plastic on cover and handle with skimpy washers holding the handle on. I called Bostich and they said they'd send a new cover and handle to me (haven't received it yet, approx 10 days). I'll use fender washers when I attach the new handle. I've used the nailers to do some door casings and trim out a remodeled bathroom. Nailers worked great, no adjustments needed. The coupling from the compressor to the hose leaked, so I spent about 3.00 for better fittings. The air hose is not the best, too much memory. But for this price, it works great.
